IS the sand real loose now around port A? It looks like there has been some rain? I will not be driving a 4X4 Thanks, T.G.

Rain actually packs the sand...
But allong the Port A beach there is a "road" that is packed well, and can be driven on most of the way. You will see the sane getting loose and know when to turn around.
I've taken everything from rental cars to Jeeps down the beach, and as long as you use your brain you'll be fine.
One caution, leave the lead out of the right foot the days your driving the beach. The most common and easiest way to get stuck is sharp turns and spinning tires. Accellerate slowly and turn wide and you should be fine...

If you see soft sand in front of you when you are going straight pick up some speed and don't slow down until you are through the soft stuff. If you encounter soft sand stay in the ruts as well. Around Port A i wouldn't worry about it. The only trouble I have had the past few days is people not staying in the ruts and making 4 or 5 sets of ruts in the soft sand. Makes for some not fun driving.

Thanks. I was hoping the rain had it packed some. I was down there in march and it was powder.

Cruise nice and slow and don't spin your tires and you'll be fine. I drive a 2wd GMC diesel and never have any problems and it's way heavy on the front.

Sharky's is still there. I wonder if that old, leathery bar fly is still sitting there with the 3 inches of ash hanging off of her cig. She had the hots for my brother.
