to answer water surge, I don't mind if guys pull up to where I am fishing so long as they have respect for me and where I am casting/fishing at. I can tell you that bass fisherman have a severe tendency to be A-holes and let me tell you I have as much right to be on this lake and catch whatever fish I desire. I know that they aren't all like this, but I have already had my number of run-ins with them. Most of the time I will wave guys over and let them know I am catching fish, and I think we should all be so polite. Remember when we were growing up and our parents taught us manners, and common courtesy lets try to use them when we are on the water. There is plenty of room and fish for everyone to have a good time without steping on anyone else's toes. And a big +1 to I am quockie statement about not motoring in or out of the boat shows!! Just my .02 guys, be nice to everyone out there remember were all fisherman.

I will be out first thing in the morning. I have filled my tackle with a bunch of goodies from Dick's and Bass Pro. By the way, what is the hump right outside of the State Park marina called. I marked it yesterday and it was thick with bait, but did not get any bites at all.

Did anyone hit the water today 5/08? If so was it as windy as it looks from my living room window? that is the only reason that I decided to not head out today.

Yea very windy, but better in the coves.
The bite was decent in the morning then tapered off in the afternoon.

I also went but the wind was to much .Caught 3 but the wind was howling on the humps by doggs head with waves coming over the bow
of my Z20 Ranger .I'll try it again when it is a little less windy. The wife likes the deep water fishing , the bait and fish were there but a little rough for her. The 3 fish all came on 1/2 ounce sliver man-o-lures .

I must have the worst map in america because I still don't see doggs head on it. I have the hook-n-line map. is it named something else on the map?

Big point that divides the two major arms of the lake. Looking straight down on it on the map, it looks like the head of a dog. The "ear" of the dog, a long point closer to fireman's hump is known as "community point"

I think my map calls it Community Point, just East of Estes Cove.

I made it out for a few hours; between 11:30 and 2. I think I am not able to catch fish if there are no birds. The last few times I have been out, I have been skunked. I finally gave up today and picked up a spinner bait and started beating the bank. Got 4 of them that way. So the LMBs saved the day for me today. I really need to find a few more spots that will produce.

heys guys sorry to hear about the wind and the troubles, hey water surge if I ever see you on the water I will help you as much as I can. I only have a few select spots, but I don't tend to have a problem ever catching sandies unless they are on total lockdown.

Well guys don't hate me after all i am the one that started this blog on JP, but I cheated last night and this morning and hit Benbrook. I had a blast there too, I am just learning that lake but my friend and I were able to boat about 25-30 sandies and hybrids between last night and this morning. I caught one hybrid that was 21'' and about 5lbs. and really nice sandies kept and cleaned 9 for lunch today. I will try and post a pic of the two largest hybrids (my friend and I's first ever respectively). I am going to head out on JP this week and will report back. I will have an open seat one day this upcoming week if anyone is interested. I will try and plan one day when the wind is not so bad.
