Hello fellow "yakers"

We are ready to mount our Eagle fish finders in our new yaks.

What kind of battery do we get & what kind of "medium" do we use to mount our transducers in the hull with?? Silicone??

Thanks,
Jim & Nan

Here is what I did and it works great: I used a 12v rechargable deer feeder battery from Academy; small and lasts a long time - $14.95. Use 30 minute epoxy to glue the transducer inside the hull - find the flattest most "direct down" portion of the hull that will be over the water all the time. Mix the epoxy well using a plastic cup and stirrer and mix slowly and well to minimize bubbles. Use some sandpaper to rough up both the hull and transducer, and have some kind of weight handy to hold the transducer in place after you push it down into the puddle of epoxy.

In this life there is fly fishing and tying...and then there is all that other stuff in between that doesn't matter.

Yes there is just go to www.texaskayakfisherman.com they have a fact & question board as well as a freshwater and saltwater board. Most post on the saltwater but they also answer and fish fresh. These guys are to kayak fishing what the crappie masters here on this board are, the best. If u want to look at my yak and get some ideas and u are in the North Texas area let me know I'll help ya out if I can.

Thanks for the response broxybru, Im in Austin Tx. I purchased my yak mainly for the coast but we have a lake here that is small crafts only and no big motors so Ive been fishing there alot as well.
Im just looking for the basic rigging rod holders storage etc..
Also how do you guys handle the wind I have a hard time positioning the boat. And an anchor seems to clumsy. Has anyone ever used a wind sock?

Thanks
H.H.J.

Rod holders are not a problem, and neither is the anchor system that I use! What type of yak do u have? Shoot me a e-mail boxybru2003@yahoo.com and we can disscuss this in depth. Also go to www.texaskayakfisherman.com and check out that site as well, lots of information about rigging yaks and some good guys to boot.
