Just arrived to Texas a few weeks ago from California and am hoping some of you expirenced Texas bass fisherman are willing to give some advice.
I'm stationed at Sheppard AFB and have noticed there are quite a few lakes around the area. Took the boat out for the first time today for a short run on Amon G Carter. Got the lines wet for a little while but nothing in the boat today. It was strange seeing all the timber in the water (and watching out for it when it was just under the surface)!
As luck would have it, no one at my new assignment that I know bass fishes so I'm hoping someone from around this area can give some pointers as to which lakes are good around here. Also, any tips or tricks regarding baits that are best for these Texas bass would be great! Thanks for any info/advice you have to offer!

Welcome Jross!!! Can't help much on that lake, BUT, as was previously stated.......... hire a guide, and you will be lightyears ahead!!! You will save money in the long run, and immediately start catching fish.

JRoss, there is quite a few guys on this forum from around the Wichita Falls area. Best bet, IMO, is to meet up with and fish with them. Gleen from their knowledge. I couldn't imagine dropping a boat in a TOTALLY unfamiliar lake and expect to catch something.

Thank you for all the welcomes! I am definitely looking to hire a guide, hopefully this fall. Want to hire someone for Lake Fork as I can't wait to see some of the fish I hear about from there. Wasn't expecting much yesterday as it was more of a get the boat in the water and make sure nothing was broke after the haul from California. Still, excited about being here and if anyone from around this area is willing to give some local lake info please feel free to send me an email. Thank you all for your hospitality and happy fishing!
