Wild shot here BNagel 2 hours ago
Anyone been to Montana for smallmouth bass? Visiting my brother this July, and he has a friend with cabin and boat near Noxon Reservoir (NE of Missoula). Northern pike are also on the menu -- invasive species hated by trout fishermen, to be removed en masse. I volunteer!!

Thanks for anything. (Recommend at saltwater forums for snook fishing was 'da bomb!')

Re: Penn SQUALL® II LEVEL WIND CONVENTIONAL ROD & REEL COMBO? Osbornfishing 3 hours ago
You may be trying to cover too much with this combo. I use an Abu 6500 on a 6.6 ugly stick for all of my bay fishing. I use the same combo in freshwater most of the time, so you may already have something for the bay. At the jetty I may bump it up to an Abu 7000i on a 6’8” (15-40 pound) GS series Muskie rod. I use the same rods in the surf unless I am after sharks. At the pier or on a head boat the Penn senator (113) is a work horse and I see them commonly fished on the east and west coasts. But they are not level wind reels. I have not used a Squall reel so hopefully you will get some comments from anglers that have used it. It should be a good jetty rod and an ok surf combo if you are bait fishing. Good luck and let us know what you decide. thumb

Re: Deion aka Prime nfhbass 5 hours ago
It’s crazy to me how nobody seems to see it.

He’s found opportunities for himself in coaching and his kids have followed. He’s coached Shadeur everywhere he has gone. Trinity Christian, Jackson St, and CU

He got to CU and they have to win NOW, so they completely flip their roster so they can win NOW. We want to win NOW, not develop anyone, we need to get in the portal and get winning players (which is an oxymoron) so we can win NOW. Everyone they bring in they promote as some sort of god send, cure. Oh, you were a 2 or 3rd string OT at UTEP, you gonna be a DAWG here!!!

Well. Look what happens. 4-8 last year. I think they’ll be around .500 this year. Then what? He leaves, because he had no intentions of developing anyone other than Shadeur Sanders, Shilo Sanders, and Travis Hunter. They will all be gone after next year, and so will he. It won’t be a surprise to anyone. That guy is so far focused on himself and his it is scary.

Re: What technique/lure would you use on this setup? nfhbass 5 hours ago
I’d throw moving baits with it.

Swim jigs, spinnerbaits, buzz baits, small boot tail swimbaits, chatter baits. You could probably use it to rip traps in the the grass.

You could probably drag bottom contact baits with it as well, but I prefer a faster tip for that…
